Key Responsibilities:
* Provide individualized support to students with autism, both in the classroom and during school activities.
* Assist with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting tasks and activities to meet each student’s learning needs.
* Support students with communication, using tools like PECS, Makaton, or assistive technology to help them express themselves effectively.
* Encourage positive social interactions and emotional development, helping students navigate daily challenges with patience and empathy.
* Foster an inclusive, structured environment by reinforcing routines and promoting independence.
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver consistent, holistic support.
* Monitor and document progress, sharing updates with the SENCO, teachers, and families.
Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with students with autism or in a special needs educational setting is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with autism support strategies and communication tools (PECS, Makaton, etc.) is a plus, though training will be provided.
* A compassionate, patient approach with strong communication skills to connect with students of varying abilities.
* Ability to work as part of a dedicated, multidisciplinary team, sharing insights and strategies to support student progress.
* Resilient, flexible, and adaptable, with a genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
