A primary school in Walthamstow is seeking a compassionate and reliable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with a care background to support administering medication to a young student in a wheelchair. Key Responsibilities:
As an LSA, you’ll be essential to the student’s well-being and daily school experience. Your responsibilities will include:
Personal Care Support: Assist the student with feeding and waste bag changes throughout the school day. This requires sensitivity, discretion, and attention to the child’s needs.
One-on-One Academic Support: Work closely with the student in their learning environment, adapting tasks as necessary and fostering their educational growth in coordination with the teaching team.
Promoting Inclusion: Help the student participate in classroom activities, interact with peers, and feel a sense of belonging within the school community.
Collaborating with Staff: Work with teachers and support staff to create an integrated and supportive environment that enhances the child’s learning and social experience.
Qualifications and Skills:
Care Experience: Experience in a care role, particularly involving personal care tasks, is essential. Prior experience working with children in a school setting is desirable but not mandatory.
Patience and Compassion: A caring and patient approach is essential for supporting the student’s needs in a positive, respectful manner.
Team Player: Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, LSAs, and other school staff.
