An Outstanding rated Primary School in Leyton is looking for a Full-time LSA with a related high education background.

We are seeking compassionate and experienced individuals to join our team as Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) at a lovely primary school. The successful candidates will work closely with students with diverse learning needs, providing personalised support and assistance to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This role requires a genuine passion for working with vulnerable individuals and a commitment to fostering inclusively and empowerment in the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist classroom teachers in planning and delivering engaging and effective reading lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and educational objectives.
  2. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students who require additional assistance with reading comprehension, fluency, and phonics.
  3. Utilise evidence-based instructional strategies and resources meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  4. Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages a love for reading and promotes literacy development.
  5. Assess student’s reading abilities and progress through informal observation, running records, and other assessment tools.
  6. Implement targeted interventions and remediation strategies to support struggling readers and accelerate their progress.
  7. Collaborate with classroom teachers, reading specialists, and other school staff to develop and implement individualised learning plans for students with specific reading needs.
  8. Monitor and track student progress, maintaining accurate records and documentation of reading assessments, interventions, and outcomes.

Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field is required. Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
  2. Previous experience working with primary school students in an educational setting, with a focus on reading instruction and literacy development. Required but not mandatory
  3. Strong knowledge of English language arts, including phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, and reading comprehension strategies.
  4. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young learners to help them develop their reading skills and achieve academic success.
  5. Ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students, including those with special educational needs or English language learners.
