Special Needs Classroom Assistant
Location: South London
Salary: Dependent on experience
Hours: Full-time 08:30 -16:00, term-time only
Sugarman Education is currently looking for a special needs classroom assistant to join a thriving primary SEN School in Sutton, South London. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities and help them to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities:
– Working closely with the class teacher to provide support to pupils with special educational needs
– Supporting pupils in their learning and ensuring they are fully engaged in lessons
– Addressing any behavioural or emotional issues that may arise, and implementing strategies to help pupils manage their behaviour
– Providing one-to-one support to pupils when required
– Assisting with the planning and preparation of lessons
– Maintaining accurate records of pupil progress and contributing to reviews and meetings with parents and as required
Skills and experience:
– Experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities
– A patient, understanding and compassionate approach
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– An ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
– A willingness to learn and be flexible in your approach
